Cleaning makeup brushes

Since I don’t have any particular story to post, I’ll just going to share how I clean my makeup brushes. I love using makeup brushes in applying everyday minerals foundation and powdered concealer, brush is the right tool in applying mineral makeup to get the great coverage and natural look of your makeup.

I use my makeup brushes almost everyday so I’m strict when it comes to cleanliness.  Cleaning them weekly is my Sunday night ritual. It’s very important that you keep them clean, because they haven lots of dirt and bacteria, which can cause breakouts and make your make-up go on clumpy. I heard that washing brushes will also make them last longer.

Here’s the way how I clean my brushes:

First, I fill a small bowl with a couple of inches of water just enough to make half of the bristle wet then add a pea size of gentle shampoo. Next, place the brushes in the water with shampoo and gently rub the bristles between your fingers for at least 20 to 30 seconds. Don’t wash the bristles near the handle because it will loosen the glue. After that, rinse the brush thoroughly in water, you will know when the brushes are clean when the water turns clear and isn’t colored from makeup. Then, pat the brushes dry with the towel, lay them flat on it and let it dry completely.

There you go, cleaning makeup brushes is pretty easy and won’t take much of your time so always make sure you wash your brushes at least thrice a month.  So that the next time you use your brush it will not cause you breakouts.
